As of this evening in a small little town in southern California
there is a wee ten month old female dog...
who is no longer looking for a "forever home".
An old and certainly cherished friend
went beyond anything one could imagine
and was at the Samaritan Shelter not once,
not twice
but four times in one day
to make sure that this dog was not scooped up by a rescue group.
The female dog is ours
all fair and square,
and she will be forever known as Maggie .
Now there was a boy dog there ,
four years old that knew he should live in my house...
and my friend went to get him
and a RESCUE group came in over night(?) and took him and a few others.
Now this is a NO KILL shelter
so there was never ever a threat of that ever happening.
BUT it is Christmas and rescue groups are on the prowl for adoptable cute little dogs
and they take them and have these big damn adoption days
and charge triple what the shelter gets...
they take these dogs to areas of economic stability
to get not only the dog adopted
but funding for their GREAT RESCUE work!!!
The little boy dog was gone this morning and I was so pissed...
but enough said and moving on..
There is one other little dog, weighs 8 pounds and is a stray
but by law they cannot put her up for adoption until the owners have been notified.
IF these folks are just using this as a baby sitting facility over the holidays
I am gonna be more then a tad irritated.
We want her too.
So Lee and I are driving to California on the 26th of December
and we are going to go get Maggie from the friends place..
and try to get the other little one before we head back to AZ.
So you can all relax... Gaye has her dog finally..
and if everything goes according to plan..
we will have two little munchkins by New Years..
And how was your day? You can guess what mine is like..
supercalifragilistically fantastic!!!!!
Thank you for looking in and for joining us on our journey..
not just in miles
but emotions as well.
Bless each of you.
Peace
Fantastic, Big Sis! Sounds like you're jumping up and clicking your heels with happiness right now. Glad you were able to cut through all that red tape! I'm looking forward to hearing more about Maggie, and seeing pics of her...And eventually seeing her "in person"!! -- Hugs, L'il Bro
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...you do know how long I've waited for this, don't you? Gaye you are blessed with such good friends, and Maggie is one lucky little lady, too!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about the "rescue" groups. So many of them are simply big business and I'm not really thrilled about the shelters that allow them first rights to their animals. But in the end Maggie has found a wonderful forever home, and this is SO cool!
Congratulations to all of you; get ready to have your heart stolen away. Wishing you and Lee a very healthy and Merry Christmas and sending you big hugs and smiles from Texas tonight.
