Cowboy Country

I recall being here a few years ago to photograph a specific mural.
Thought it was not "such a much" place.
Now today we are here at Bow Rivers Edge RV Campground
and I look around and say what the heck happened?
It is a large town now... with very narrow streets and tight parking lots.
Seems rather strange as there is an inordinate number of trucks in this province!
New houses on every high mesas, shopping malls much like the new ones in the southern states and tons of people every where.
It seems to me that ranches and farms have sold their land to developers and that is how these "CITIES" appear out of no where.

The drive from Stony Plain to here was lovely and many of you know that we always take a road less travelled.
We wound our way through Red Deer and shortly after took Highway 22
which for those of you not knowing, is the original cowboy trail.
The park we are in is down in a land bowl of sorts and protected from wind..
 right along the Bow River.
Large park, clean, with grass, fire pits and trees separating sites
.Quite nice actually. BUT......
Don't you hate it when there is a but?
The fier pits... I thought "oh isn't that great"!
Until our neighbour had a fire and I had to close all my windows...
the smell of the wet wood made me really sick.
Seriously my eyes were red and itchy and I was so sick..
.Could hardly breath.

We are going to leave tomorrow morning as there seems no point in staying here past today.
My cousin and her husband are very, very busy this week-end and we will only get to see her this afternoon.
We brought her a case of wine and she will come visit us here at the park in between engagements.
Her husband Max is delivering a paper on History this afternoon,
then a dinner this evening and more engagements tomorrow.
So we will get in a quick visit and off we will go.

That will put us in Waterton One day earlier then planned
and we will be able to get out of that region one day earlier
as below freezing temps are expected after mid week.
We would like to be gone when that happens.
There is a high mountain pass we will travel to get back to the south Okanogan
and yes.....we do have chains.. they are in storage.
What a great place for them eh?

The initial journey of the Horns in their Longhorn pulling that Big Horn has been a good one with good experiences.

So we wish you all a great week-end and thanks for coming along with us
Peace

  1. RV parks are notoriously small to have fire pits. I hate them as well.
    Enjoy Waterton!

  2. Thanks for doing the "prep" for my upcoming journeys on the road, Gaye, and for documenting both the good and the bad. Will be looking forward to your adventures in Waterton as Glacier Nat'l Park and Waterton are on my Go To list...
