Well we have made it one whole week and are not certifiable,
nor are we in any way sorry we have two very small young puppies.
It has been a week that has been busy and fun..
and not without it's ups and downs.
The ups are like when your child says it's first word
or takes it's first step.
Scamp is completely house trained,
which in truth means SHE is trained not me..
and we are very proud of how quickly she managed to get this right.
Rascal is kinda lackadaisical about the whole thing..
sometimes he remembers and sometimes not.
Mostly we watch for signs.. but he is getting there.
Thanks to granddaughter Alexandra
we now know there is this great training tool called the' Potty Patch".
You might recall my mentioning these two little puppies are actually under quarantine.
Until their immunizations are complete.
So no walking, no greeting other doggies, no mingling at parks..
too risky.
Now today was their first of three immunization shots..
and we took them for these shots.
I do not know what the hell I was thinking it was going to be
but remember when you took your kid for their booster shots?
Very very similar.
The smaller the puppy, the harder it is.
Scamp cried and by golly that needle looked huge..,
then it was Rascal's turn and he was much better.
BUT... here it comes..
He got sick and threw up.. poor baby.
He is groggy and I am sick with worry..
what a basket case.
His nose is cool and he is drinking water.. everything is working OK
EXCEPT his little sister wants to lie on top of him and he cries when she does..
So Poppa Lee(you remember that great big guy?)
well he is holding "his boy"while the little Holy Terror is sleeping in the crate by herself..
supposed to keep them quiet and resting for72 hours..
Ya right.
Him a definite maybe..
her no chance !
So they have 12 days until the next series and we do it all over again..
and I feel so badly as Rascal is really lethargic and wants to just sleep
and Little Miss is raring to go
but by golly do not pick her up the wrong way
or you get the full on Diva squeals and cries!
Oh and we now have a doggie gate,
as the little lady has learned to scale the stairs to our bedroom and bathroom..
not an overly great thing is you ask me.
Heard from a friend back home whose daughter had her boy dog altered..
and it was over 500 bucks!!!
What a rip off...
man alive..
we may get it done down here before we come home..
anyone know a GREAT vet in Washington State?
So from desert tales to puppy tails
we bid you all a tired but happy adieu...
Thanks for coming along for the ride,
we enjoy having you.
Treat each other with kindness
and please find a way to Pay It Forward somewhere and some how.
Peace
Sounds like you're pretty immersed in doggy language already. I think they'll have you trained pretty quickly! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's not much different to having kids...sad to see them get their shots. They get over it more quickly than we do. I'm so happy you got the cutest little puppies and I'm sure you'll have so much fun with them for many years. Good Luck to you!
Well so glad you are enjoying the puppies! We knew you would make great parents but you sound a little bit like a new mommy Gaye! Have fun with the puppy stage as it doesn't last long and give them a squeeze from Spice.
