Being here in Moab is a very exciting thing.
Surrounded by walls of red rocks complete with desert varnish..
what on earth could be better?
Great weather and we have it!!!
The town of Moab is quite an eclectic place ,
filled with galleries selling Native American style items(touristy stuff you understand)
Tom Till has a gallery here and that is always fun and inspiring to go in and take a serious look at his photographic works.
There are batik clothing stores, beautiful book stores and crystals everywhere.
They have every known organic food place known to humankind and BIKE shops abound.
There are as many bike stores as licensed massage therapists here.
It is after all Extreme bike capital of anywhere.. oh and Jeep safaris too!!!
Rock wall climbing is huge as well.
We have not even scratched the surface of the raw beauty here either.
It is vast and it is every hue of red you could possibly imagine.
Stone pillars rising from the earth as if they are reaching to touch the heavens..
when you see images or paintings, even well done presentations,
it is no where near as spell binding as the immense size of it all.
Standing out by the Three Gossips you get some idea just how insignificant we truly are.
Arches National Park has millions of visitors every year
and I am amazed how many folks actually are here at this time of year.
Still it is the first time we have been here at this time and it is warm
and it is gorgeous with NOT that many people.
There is never that many people in Canyonlands.
Never understood that one
but for me it works
because that is our favourite place .
We travelled down Potash Road as far as we could go and the objective was to get a couple shots of Jug Handle Arch.
This is in an out of the way area that young folks enjoy climbing the sheer rock walls.. they are about 300 feet straight up!
The area that this particular arch is located is also the Desert Bighorn lambing area.
Oh I looked and looked but never saw one.. BUT we did see some tracks..
ah one day I might be lucky enough to snag a shot of a desert bighorn.
Today our friends Laura and Gordy arrive.
Have not seen them since last summer.
So this will be a fun time.
This is their first time here and our fifth.
So it is always fun to see things through new eyes.
Lee and I are going up to Garden of Eden today as there are some amazing rocks behind it that I saw something calling to me .
I need to see IF the call is worth the journey.
Once again we both thank you for coming along on this adventure.
Whoo Hoo! I'm posting on your blog from our site right behind you!
