It has been awhile.
Done a lot of things since last we visited.
Where to start?
Lee and I went with friends to Mt Kitt.
This is a 2000 acre mountain top at the 7000 foot level
Chilly and windy up there, but the telescopes
(over a dozen of them) were quite a sight to see.
Saw a solar telescope for the first time
and the actual scope was truly awe inspiring to take a look at.
They were tracking sun spots,
the first they had seen in 4 years.
This site is a world recognized place to come and study the galaxies and beyond.
Many an academic has been to this place ,
are currently there and will come again in the future.
Got some decent images too.
Beautiful winding road up there too.
Not for the faint hearted.
We have walked in the desert and had beautiful clouds to add to any visual drama..
glorious sunsets and always somewhere where a picture just is not a possibility.
I have a pair of Cactus wrens building a nest right outside our door
and the usual hummingbirds paying us daily visits at our window feeder.
I have line danced , or tried to.
My feet do not always understand the spoken suggestion of which one should be going first!
But the exercise is great.
No bingo ever again, that is just NOT going to happen.
We went to see a great entertainer the other night.
His name is Arvel Bird.
He is a Yaqui Indian and a very good looking guy.
That is unimportant really,
but his being easy on the eyes was just a bonus!
He played the fiddle.
That is really an understatement.
He is a classically trained musician and really really GOOD!
He played the fiddle..
and what a fiddle this was.
Dressed in Apache clothing and hair down his back,
he lifted that violin(yes I said VIOLIN) and started to play.. holy cow.
Gobsmacked.
He played Manitoba Metis music,
Cape Breton music, Celtic music..
and he was better the terrific.
All in all it was a knee slapping, toe tapping, inspiring evening.
We also took some time to go to the flea market
here and it was the WORST junky crap I have ever seen.
It was worse then being in Tijuana!
We bought a bag of lemons and left.
Went looking for a Farmer's Market for fresh organics..
stopped at a church picnic for the little ones.
It was so crowded, I could not believe it.
We were invited to stay but declined, as it was for families.
We found our little Farmer's Market
and saw what was there and enjoyed the people.
Not enough of anything to get excited though.
Realised that the Farmer's Market in Osoyoos is really not so bad.
We ended the week having home made French Onion soup with friends.
Lovely way to end a week.
Today we are going BIRDING!!!!!
Personally, I can hardly wait!
A note of interest.
My oldest daughter Michellene got married in Bali on December 15th.
She and her husband, Marc were married in a Buddhist ceremony
and the pictures on up on my Face Book page
Happy Holidays everyone.
Drive safely please.
