Day 5-Gardiner MT

Well now Yellowstone from this side is way better
and there is far more action!

The weather is first and foremost fantastic!
Sunny , warm winds and fluffy clouds.

We took a trip late afternoon into Lamar Valley and eureka!

Saw a momma bear and her three cubs, and lots of people with binoculars and scopes,
 not to mention cameras.
Saw elk(bucks) and cows...
lots of deer (black tails I think),
bison .. and lots of them.
I have never ever seen so many bison in my life.
 Perhaps thousands of them.
Babies galore and young males  grunting and shoving each other.
Solitary bulls lying around or wallowing.
This is when they find some really nice dirt and they roll around in it.
We saw antelope and some gorgeous wild flowers.
Lamar Valley is green and lush looking now.

In this adventure we also came across the fox den with Mother and Father.
Seems there is a sad drama unfolding there.
We saw both adults last night but no kits.
Word around is a badger went down the hole when mom and dad were gone
and no one has seen the kits since.
Parents continue to stand guard on the den.
 Fox are a beautiful animal and it is always sad to learn of a tragedy;
but it is after all, survival of the fittest.

A grand early evening tour and with it comes (hopefully some nice images)

Friends Gord and Laura left early this am to scout out morning shots.
 I wish them good shooting.

We are planning on a lunch with dear pals J&J today
and hopefully end up back out in Lamar later today.

Tomorrow we get to meet yet another great person and look forward to that very much.

So thanks for coming along.
We enjoy you being with us.
Have a greater then great day
PEACE
